Aged Cheddar

Not only is Aged Cheddar one of the world's tastiest cheeses, it's also a fun, play-hard masters' women team based in Madison, WI. The team is comprised of mainly Madison players, joined by a smattering of out-of-staters.

The team submitted an amazing jersey concept for the 2021 USA Ultimate Masters Championships this spring; we just had to spread the... cheese?

What’s the story behind the new design? 

The vision for the design is all Emily Langland's idea.  She had seen a picture of Beastie Boys' Michael Diamond's house in which he decorated a hallway in Brooklyn Toile and she thought it would be cool to do a version of Brooklyn Toile, just Wisconsin-themed.

After a year of isolation and disconnect because of COVID, she thought that having an intricate design on our jerseys would spark people's curiosity; making them want to come take a closer look – thereby connecting with another person. 

Mo Kappes thought to include a Winconsin Waldo as part of the design, and the Aged Cheddar leadership team thought it would be cool if Waldo could be in a different location on each jersey. 

VC was able to accomodate this request and make all of our dreams come true by placing Waldo in a unique spot on each jersey!

Tell us about your Find Waldo game

Finding Waldo on an Aged Cheddar jersey became our spirit game.  In short, a person would walk up to a player and start searching for Waldo.  Once Waldo was spotted, each person got a prize! 

It definitely sparked conversation during the Waldo search especially since Waldo was hiding in some interesting spots!  It also generated a lot of excitement. 

We learned early on that we had to tell people to wait to look for Waldo until we had finished explaining the game because as soon as we mentioned that Waldo was on a different place on each player's jersey, people immediately wanted to find them!

Anything exciting coming up for the team? 

First and foremost, we are excited to support and cheer on our teammates who are playing club this year.  Mo is always busy recruiting for next year's team--making note of all of those players in the Madison area who are masters eligible or just becoming masters eligible--so they can be included on the team. 

We are also planning to auction some extra jerseys in order to raise money for a local nonprofit – either frisbee-related or an organization supporting marginalized communities in Madison.
