Customers have noticed a new look to some of our signature rubber labels, so let us tell you more about the VC Blue Label line.

The story behind the VC Blue Label

VC started producing custom apparel in Canada in the late 90s. Over the years, enticed by much lower costs, we’ve tried manufacturing in different countries; unfortunately we struggled with quality and consistency, which weren't up to the bar set by our Canadian production.

Then came 2014. We partnered with European-based Lookfly, redeveloping and expanding their product line in partnership with an amazing new European factory. Two things quickly became clear: the product development timeline was much shorter than in our Canadian factory, and the quality of these new products was fantastic. At first, we hesitated to produce any VC products through this factory, and instead branded them as Pivot (our multi-sport offering brand) – which was confusing both to us, and to our customers! These were in fact VC designs on VC-driven patterns, being made for the ultimate community, who already knew and trusted VC… they just weren’t made in Canada.

We needed a way to quickly distinguish apparel provenance, as we feel it's important to be honest about this. Our classic grey rubber label, used for over 15 years, signifies “made in Canada”, and the new bright blue label represents apparel made in Europe.

As a majority of our products can be manufactured in either of our production facilities, customers can even request a Canadian or European version. If it’s important to you, like it is to us, we want to respect your preference as much as possible.

The majority of our custom team jerseys and shorts are still made locally in Toronto and thus will have the grey label, as our in-house production team are experts at creative design and technical production requirements.
