VC (Re)Introduces the VC Card Membership Program

We originally launched the VC Card Membership Program in the late 2000s in an effort to better reward and engage with our community. What better time than now to revisit these goals?

Why Now

It's been an unbelievable few weeks as COVID-19 has disrupted life as we know it. A lot of us are staying home, working less yet somehow working harder, and having to connect in new – yet distant – ways. Most importantly, many of our community members are putting their own health at risk by caring for people with critical needs, delivering goods, working in grocery stores... To those on the frontline, thank you. Thank you for being there every day, thank you for what you do, thank you for keeping the world moving.

As a community, we are not currently able to play or organize ultimate. While we know that we will be back - you can't cancel ultimate - the mental and physical effects this causes to our community members are hard to ignore. We each gain much joy and support through ultimate, and struggle to reconcile the fact that we can't be together at the fields.

To be honest, we are feeling it too at VC, and we appreciate the efforts of our community members to engage with us right now. The VC Card Membership program provides a way for us to engage with you, receive your support and reward your loyalty - all through the purchase of a $40 membership. 

The Good News

Serious times call for serious talk, but it's in our nature to rise above adversity, be optimistic, and look at the bright side!

Why VC

Supporting our community is our priority, and we excel at this. By contributing over 15% of our total revenue (not profit!) back to ultimate organizations, events, teams and initiatives, we've been able to support our community at every level, around the world.

We want to be able to continue to do this, but it's definitely difficult in the current economic climate. We are anticipating an 80% reduction in our 2020 revenue, which is significant – VC is run with a very tight margin: we support meaningful initiatives, produce locally the highest quality product possible using sustainable materials, and invest in employee health benefits.

Fortunately, after 20 years of hard work, VC has matured into a sustainable business and we have plans and funding in place to weather this storm. This said, it will not be an easy year. Half of our team is currently unable to work as we're following the province's shutdown directives, and the other half is only working part-time thanks to government subsidies, which may run out.

It's a rough situation, but we are all in this together. And we're thankful be here –  it's been, and still is, much harder for many.

We're grateful to live in a country that is supporting our business, which is allowing us to support our VC team members and continue to do what we can for our community.

We're grateful for every order ever placed with VC, especially since the shutdown began, and so many of our opportunities have been cancelled.
