Glory Days, a tournament hosted yearly by SUN Ultimate, took place last weekend and it couldn't have gone better! We asked Morgan Moody, one of the tournament organizers a few questions about The Rookie Game, their favourite Glory Days memory, and what's up with SUN Ultimate these days.
We love hearing about positive experiences and tournaments in the community. If you have any cool stories, send them to ben@vcultimate.com
We're excited about moving earlier in the fall season. The development of organized ultimate at the high school level means many freshman have already experienced a tournament setting. The fall is still time for collegiate teams to bond, develop and prepare for the spring competition. We still aim to host a tournament where young players can get extension play time. To do this we must avoid the fickle midwest fall weather, pesky fall college exams and relaxing fall breaks.
Why is the Rookie Game so epic and important for Glory Days?
We've all been a rookie at one point. Impeccable decision making are rarely the first attribute used to warmly describe a rookie teammate. We want the Rookie Game to showcase it in a supportive environment with a healthy dose of sideline heckling. Teammates won't let you EVER forget that one time you threw an upwind hammer to a rookie who didn't even know their name. But as your teammates storm the field and hoist up that rookie in a end of Saturday pool play entertaining games, everyone leaves with a memory of "I remember when I played at Glory Days".

Favourite Glory Days Memory?
As an organizer, I really enjoy when players come back and tell me their memories of Glory Days. It often begins with "I remember when I came to Glory Days...." As an alumni of Truman State University I found many of my life long friends through ultimate. Hosting a tournament to allows teammates to bond and develop keeps me going each year.

What’s new with SUN Ultimate (what is SUN Ultimate too perhaps)?
We are a nonprofit 501c3 that was formed by Truman State alumni with the intent to provide quality ultimate tournaments with an emphasis on rookie play time and spirit of the game. We recently established a scholarship fund at Truman to help support Truman Ultimate players in their academic endeavors.
