VC apparel features different colour labels; what do they all mean? This post was originally shared in 2021 as part of our Behind the Scenes series. Check out the 2024 post for an updated version.
Transparent Manufacturing
VC labels mean something. If your apparel has a VC rubber label, it was thoughtfully designed and created by the team at VC HQ.
When we expanded our manufacturing operations to Europe, we wanted to be transparent about it. These products feature a blue rubber label. Below is a explanation.
Why some VC products have a blue label
VC Labels
We have three main categories of labels: grey, blue and woven.

More specifically, labels can also indicate the fabric characteristics of the apparel piece. For example, the green part of our grey label means that this Canadian-made item features 100% recycled fabric, often made from plastic water bottles!
Our grey rubber label proudly signifies the product is made in Toronto, Ontario.
Woven Labels
Woven VC label are black and woven (flat) unlike our raised rubber labels. It indicates that we did not manufacture certain apparel piece ourselves. These products are the best options found after extensive supplier research and testing to ensure both responsible manufacturing processes and product quality.
Why is this done? We discuss it in detail in our Re-labeling 101 post, but in short – some jobs require apparel faster and at a lower price point than we can ourselves manufacture.
We label these pieces with a VC logo so people know where it came from, and because folks are proud to have the VC logo on their apparel!
