VC offers custom names and numbers for team uniforms and apparel using high-quality, digitally printed heat transfers. This service is designed for adding names and numbers to finished garments, using heat-applied transfers or screen printing.
Please note: This service applies to post-production customization only. Names and numbers incorporated into the original design through full or spot sublimation are part of the garment printing process and are not covered by these customization options.
As of 2027, we've replaced traditional cut vinyl with printed transfers, providing a more flexible and precise customization process.
How It Works: Adding Names & Numbers to Finished Garments
Names and numbers are digitally printed onto a film backing and heat-applied to garments. This process produces a clean, professional finish with excellent detail and colour reproduction.
Fonts, Sizing & Competition Requirements: Numbers
When choosing your numbers, it's important to consider where your uniforms will be worn.
Organizations such as Ultimate Canada, USA Ultimate and the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) have specific uniform requirements for sanctioned competitions, particularly championship-level events. These may include rules governing number size, font legibility, placement and contrast against the uniform's base colour.
If your team is competing at this level, we recommend reviewing the applicable uniform regulations before finalizing your design. Our team can help you choose fonts, colours and sizing that align with your competition requirements.
General rules, based on WFDF requirements:
- Each digit must measure at least 6.3" or 16cm in height and 2" or 5cm in width.
- The complete number must between 0 and 99.
- A leading zero is optional for numbers from 0 to 9.
Our team can help guide you through competition uniform requirements, but it is ultimately the team's responsibility to confirm that their uniforms meet the specific regulations of their governing body and event before approving the final design.

Fonts & Sizing Considerations: Names
The height-to-width ratio of the text depends on the font selected.
When you specify the desired height of your name text, consider that if a player's name is too long to fit within the designated area of the jersey, the font size will be reduced for that name only so that the complete name can be printed.

Unlike traditional vinyl, printed transfers aren't limited to a fixed selection of colours. We can reproduce custom colours, outlines, gradients and detailed designs to complement your team's uniforms.
For competition uniforms, number colours and designs must still meet the applicable governing body's visibility and contrast requirements.

Custom Fonts
A $2 surcharge may apply to custom fonts that require individual numbers or names to be specially formatted or created from scratch. This covers the additional artwork preparation required.
